Mr. Paul Atterbury - President BOD
Paul is an attorney with professional experiences that are distinguished by operational law, investigations and criminal litigation, as well as writing and analyst responsibilities that collectively have a nexus to national security. Paul is a retired Marine; highest rank served, Colonel. Overseas military service includes operational law assignments with U.S. Armed Forces deployed in the Pacific Rim as well as combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Investigations and criminal litigation experience includes high-profile cases of alleged misconduct during combat operations and felony charges against servicemembers in garrison. Writing experience includes tours of duty on the writing teams for the 32nd and 33rd Commandants of the Marine Corps; initial draft writer for a Marine Corps Warfighting Publication; and, First Place winner of the Marine Corps Association and Foundation’s General Robert E. Hogaboom U.S. Marine Corps Leadership Writing Award.
Paul’s over 20 years of nonprofit and volunteer experience includes service for or Board Memberships on, 501c3 and 501c19 nonprofit organizations, to include currently serving as the Immediate Past President of the Rancho Bernardo Veterans Memorial Association in North County San Diego. Paul’s civilian and military education includes: Centre College of Kentucky; University of Louisville, Graduate School; University of Akron, School of Law; and, the Amphibious Warfare School resident.
FOUNDATION BOARD
Our Board of Directors come from a variety of backgrounds, but one thing unites them all, a passion for preserving and perpetuating the history of the United States Marine Corps. Many who serve on our Board have a strong connection with the Marine Corps Recruit Depot having drilled on the grinder, been stationed aboard the Depot, or felt the local impact of Marines in San Diego.
