The Honorable Judge William V. Gallo - Director

B GalloJudge William V. Gallo currently serves as a U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of California.  Before taking the bench, Judge Gallo served as a state or federal prosecutor for twenty-three years in the County Attorney's Office in Yuma, AZ, the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Northern District of Illinois (Chicago), and most recently in the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Southern District of California (San Diego).

Judge Gallo earned a commission as a Second Lieutenant and served in the United States Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve from 1978 to 2005 retiring at the rank of Colonel.  While serving in the Marine Corps Reserve from 1986 to 2005, Judge Gallo held a variety of assignments.  Most notably, in 2003 Judge Gallo was called to active duty as a Reservist in response to a Presidential call up in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  From January to October 2003, Judge Gallo served as the Commanding Officer of the First Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group.  Thereafter, from October 2003 to April 2005, he served as the Staff Judge Advocate (senior legal advisor) to the Commanding General of the First Marine Expeditionary Force.

Judge Gallo, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, received his undergraduate degree at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, and his law degree from the Loyola University School of Law in Chicago, Illinois.  In 2013, Judge Gallo returned to school and earned an LLM in Intellectual Property from the University of San Diego School of Law.

FOUNDATION BOARD

Our Board of Directors come from a variety of backgrounds, but one thing unites them all, a passion for preserving and perpetuating the history of the United States Marine Corps. Many who serve on our Board have a strong connection with the Marine Corps Recruit Depot having drilled on the grinder, been stationed aboard the Depot, or felt the local impact of Marines in San Diego.
